I started creating an essence of the Flame Tree (African Tulip Tree) around 6pm during a tsunami threat to Hawaii on July 29, 2025. This was a few weeks after after arriving on the Big Island of Hawaii.
I created this with 2 of my kids (Lilly and Benjamin). It was pouring rain and we were having fun dancing and singing our way to the tree. While Benjamin held space, Lilly added 2 flowers and I added 3 into 3 ½ cups of water (a total of 5 flowers). We asked for the essence of the entire tree- the bark, roots, flower and leaves to be infused into the water.
Since I was working with children, we also set the intention that if our hands touched the water that they were only adding more love to the essence and nothing else.
There was a lava rock wall right next to the tree that marked the edge of the property we were staying on, a divider between the road and house. The spirit of the lava rock offered itself as a protective energy and invited us to place the jar on the lava rock wall to energize while the essence infused overnight. The mother essence was completed at about 11 am on July 30th, 2025.
The following energies/advice presented itself in the essence:
-
Transformation
-
Effects on anxiety
-
Purification- the finest filter.
-
Be wary of the energies that you allow into your system- this is an invasive species.
-
You can’t push through any faster than “it” wants to go. “It” can be anything.
I found it to be really interesting that the first plant I felt drawn to work with in Hawaii was an invasive species since I too was a bit of an “invasive species” on the Hawaiian culture/land. In general, I believe it to be really rewarding to work with the invasive species of any location. People spend so much time trying to fight invasive species but if we can slow down, learn to let go and surrender to their presence just slightly then we are offered a gift of learning through their true energy rather than be stuck in the projections we place on them.
This doesn’t mean we should stop trying our best to keep endemic species present, rather it's a suggestion to embrace what invasive species can offer. Can we harvest them for tea and flower essence, dig up their roots with love and healing intention and in turn help endemic plants regain their roots instead of putting up a full fledged fight with chemicals and what not?
You too can work with the essence of Flame Tree and shift your energy click here :)
